A Message from the Heart this Chodesh Av
Over the past couple of weeks, I decided to gently press pause on “business talk.” I needed time to focus inward — on the truly important things: my role as a wife, a mother, and a Jewish woman striving to live with more intention and connection.
But now, as we enter Chodesh Av, I didn’t want this deeply meaningful time to pass without sharing a few heartfelt words with you.
This is the month of AV – AVINU-our Father. The name alone reminds us of who we belong to, who is guiding us, and who wants nothing more than for us to become our best, truest selves.
When Was the Last Time You Felt Like Your Best Self?
Have you ever looked inward and asked yourself:
When was I truly living as the best wife, the best mother I know I can be?
Maybe there were moments — even just this week — when you felt like you were falling apart. I know I’ve felt that. It’s part of being real, being human.
I’ve touched on this in earlier posts, but it’s always worth repeating:
This work of becoming better is never done.
Connecting deeply with ourselves… and just as importantly, connecting and talking to Hashem.
As wives and mothers, we’re talking to Him every day — sometimes in whispered tefillos while we’re cooking, sometimes in tears behind closed doors, and sometimes in spontaneous gratitude for a moment of happiness in our lives.
Whether we see it or not, He is always with us. Listening. Guiding. Supporting us through every moment in our lives.
The Food–Mood–Neshama Connection
One thing I’ve come to see more clearly — both in my own life and in the lives of the women I coach and speak with — is just how profoundly what we eat impacts how we feel, how we show up, and how we connect.
Yes, what we eat.
How we nourish ourselves plays such a powerful role in balancing our hormones, stabilizing our moods, and calming our nervous system.
So much of how we function as wives, how we parent, how we handle stress — it’s not just “emotional” or “spiritual.” It’s physical too. . And we don’t have to surrender to the idea that being a woman means being emotionally “out of whack” every few weeks.
We’ve been told:
“That’s just how women are…”
“Your hormones are going to act up — deal with it…”
“Everyone around you will just have to survive through your mood swings…”
But that, my dear friend, is not the truth.
You don’t have to live in emotional chaos.
There Is a Better Way — and It Starts With You
With the right nourishment, with the right mindset, and of course with Hashem’s help, things like:
Emotional monthly “meltdowns…
Pregnancy or postpartum anxiety, panic attacks, indigestion, yeast infections, hair loss, etc…
Perimenopausal mood swings, hot flashes, etc…
Brain fog, difficulty focusing, feelings of “spiritual disconnection”, etc…
…can become distant memories. I’m not joking, and I don’t have a magic wand — but I have lived through it. I’ve seen the transformation in myself and in others.
This is the kind of healing Hashem makes available to us — a רפואה לפני המכה kind of healing.
He’s offering it to you. Right here. Right now.
